FAQ: keeping your Warranty Valid

The minimum maintenance required to maintain your factory warranty is outlined in your owners manual. Regular maintenance can be performed by any qualified person without the threat of losing your warranty coverage.

Can we perform warranty repairs during the factory warranty period? No.

Franchise dealers sell vehicles at a profit. Because of their relationship with the dealers, the manufacturer requires the dealer to perform warranty repairs at a discounted labor rate when problems occur within the factory warranty period. Dealers make little or no money on parts and/or labor on these repairs.

Ever wondered why it is difficult to get warranty repairs performed?

Can we perform repairs under an extended warranty? Yes and No.

Extended warranty contracts are insurance policies. The majority of these policies are managed by third party interests. Examples: GE Capital, Credit Unions, AAA. We can handle a claim under one of these policies.

Some dealers sell extended warranties through their own insurance. These proprietary contracts typically require that the vehicle be taken to a dealer for repairs.

You might want to keep this in mind when buying an extended warranty. Purchase one that gives you the most flexibility in choosing a repair shop.

Here is a bonus - The Parkway Crew will handle all of the paperwork when we make extended warranty repairs.

Our warranty for repairs

Our Standard Warranty is one year based on the Manufacturers one year warranty.  As always, this warranty excludes a few select items due to the fact that we have no control over how the vehicle is driven and/or the quality of the manufacturing process. These excluded items are: brake pads, clutches, some dealer re-manufactured ABS components, all computers, and power steering rack assemblies.

We also have some extended warranties, including parts and labour coverage (time/kilometers, whichever occurs first) :

  • Major engine repairs such as valve jobs, engine overhaul, etc. – 36 months / 36,000 km’s
  • Transmission overhaul/replacement – 24 months/24,000 km’s up to 50 months/50,000 km’s
  • New radiator assemblies – 48 months / 50,000 km’s

You folks did some work on my wife’s Ford Escape – for which we were quite pleased! Would likely have you continue with service on this vehicle, except…this Fall we moved to Kelowna and it is just a bit too far to drive.
